Jupiter in the 11th House

The 11th is an upachaya, a house said to grow with age, and the texts treat any planet here as contributing to gains in its own style. Jupiter's style is through counsel, teaching, faith and the goodwill of learned or senior people. The classical description is of a wide circle of friends, among them elders and mentors, of an elder sibling who is a benefactor, of ambitions that are large and mostly honourable, and of income that rises over the years rather than arriving all at once. Jupiter here is also sometimes read as a planet that fulfils desires, since the 11th is the house of what one wants.

The appetite is the other face. The house of desire enlarged by Jupiter can mean wanting more than is good for one, measuring friendship by usefulness, or an ambition that outgrows its means.
